I bought this starter for my 30 yr old Simplicity Regent 38" tractor with the Kohler Command, 14 HP. engine. The clutch on the pinion gear assembly had failed. The starter ran, but wouldn't engage the ring gear on the flywheel.Starter is number 5775. I installed this new unit in a few minutes and have been using the tractor for over a week.Works perfectly every time, and, at under $45 USD, is very economical. Note: this is the second starter I've replaced on this tractor in fifteen years that I've owned it, so it's on it's third starter--at least, since it was well used when I bought it. I could've bought a different tractor, but at 81, I wouldn't get my money's worth out of it, and the repair work isn't very difficult. If you have an older tractor, you can expect starter failure at some point.

Old starter broke on my John Deere Kohler engine. This bolted right in and seems to work great. Has been installed for about 1 month now and still works great. These are easy to install, only 2 bolts and 1 wiring connection. Over all I think this is a good value for the starter. Will update if starter breaks by end of season for a durability review.
