Ed O. The individual castings that make up this unit appeared to be of good quality. I installed it at the same time as a heater tube replacement for a 2011 Honda CRV. Only had to remove about 10 bolts to get to it, but felt like I was removing half the engine bay. Figuring out how to disconnect the many wire connectors needed to remove components to get access to the starter and heater tube was difficult. Not a hard repair but an involved repair. As a backyard mechanic figure it will take you most of a day to do this one. Hopeful that it will continue to work well as I don't want to have to do it again.

Jeffrey H. So far so good,fit perfectly but was a real bitch to replace on a 09 Crv. Tried from underneath but couldn't get to the rear bolt, so I had to go from the top. Poor engineering on Hondas part.

Scouter D. I used this as a replacement starter for a 2008 CRV. Quick answer, it works so far and sounds fine. It replaced a fairly newly rebuilt OEM starter - "factory rebuilt in the USA" - so much for them- very dissapoiinting. When I looked for replacement EVERY starter I looked at locally had horrible reviews online with consistency issues - some worked, some didn't. I figured, if that's the case, buy the cheapest one. So far this Boatrip is the real deal - beautifully machined and went in just like the original. I went ahead and took off the intake manifold - it was a huge job for me. I ended up tearing my throttle body gasket and didn't replace it. Now I have a fast idle check engine light. So, I'll need to take that part apart and replace the gasket. I guess it's sucking air and throwing off the idle speed. otherwise, the YouTube videos really helped on the repair. I hope I don't have to do it again. Good luck!

Daniel F. Great value. 1000 miles and numerous starts in and no issues. Fit exactly like the one I replaced. Symptom I had was old model (original OEM) was struggling more and more to turn over engine until one day it simply couldn't turn engine fast enough, despite being jumped/boasted by additional batteries. Will update it if/when this new one should fail. Until then, I'm happy with saving $100s over OEM/Premier brands.
